REX is released

Well, the day is finally coming.

Our lovely REX is being released into the wild where he belongs, and where everyone can enjoy him.

From next week you can sign up to REX with a choice of plans depending on your requirements. Don’t worry, we will still have the free plan option.

Gone are the days you had to plead with us for test accounts and wait anxiously refreshing your inbox for the response with much-coveted login credentials (this is how we imagined our test users’ journey anyway).

Sign up soon to get started and have an explore of REX.

How we got here

REX was born out of a desire to improve the accessibility to security for those actually building and testing the mobile applications. All too often security is seen as both a blocker to development and an exclusive club where you need super-hacker status complete with a dark mysterious nature and appropriate attire to get in.

Well no longer. You can think of using REX as you storming up to the cool kids at school and saying “I don’t need to be in your club, I’m going to make my OWN club and it’s going to be even better than yours!” Except this time, they don’t all laugh at you and you’re not crying

REX was built with a straightforward drag and drop interface in its web application, and a logical and accessible API. Results are clearly laid out, and security issues explained with fixes suggested, and links to further information if you want to get really into it.

Have a look at our documentation to learn more, or you know… Get yourself signed up.

REX finds a way

I know what you’re thinking: “building and launching REX sounds so slick, you guys have really got your stuff together, I bet you never had any challenges”

A team high-fiving

I know we’ve kept up this very cool facade but it’s just that – a very, achingly cool facade. The truth is building REX not only came with the obvious technical challenges but also those faced by anyone trying to market and launch a new product. Screaming at people to be interested in your useful product apparently isn’t enough.

You can read more from about us tackling our branding challenges in the rest of this blog.

But also you should really sign up I hear all the best people are doing it.

A note to our users

REX exists for its users. We love to help you find security issues in your code, but we sadly don’t get any commission on vulns found.

We know REX isn’t perfect, who is? But as we have said from testing to launch, and will continue to say forever: your feedback is so important to us. We’re a friendly (if slightly strange) bunch, please tell us what you don’t like and what you do like. We definitely know you like the logo, but REX can’t get enough of it so you can carry on telling us that – look how cute he is come on.

If you have something to say, you can send us an email at rex@rexscan.com, find us on LinkedIn or Twitter, or join our Slack channel. You can even use the live chat feature inside REX. We’re so available it’s a little off-putting.

We also want to take this time to thank our lovely test users and feedback groups too, the heroes in orange hats.

What’s next for REX

This is just the beginning for REX, we have big ideas which range in credibility from sensible feature additions, to a whole REX island where we can all live in harmony with our secure mobile applications.

But for now we’ll be looking for investors who share our vision to expand the REX product, which just means more features and a better product for our users.
